What can be found in the groundwater and potable water system?
Parasites such as cryptosporidium and giardia can be common in our water systems. Antibiotic resistant bacteria (found in water supply of the city of Delhi (India) in September and October 2010 by Cardiff scientists were the first to identify the NDM-1 gene which makes bacteria resistant to a large range of antibiotics). Multi resistant bacteria (E-coli and Enterococcus) have also been found in lakes and streams in southern Sweden in may 2012.
In Sweden researcher’s detected pesticides in rainwater such as endolsulfan, lindan and hexachlorobenzene that are not allowed to use in Sweden, due they are toxic to water living organism. So it’s coming here anyway with the wind and rain. Nonylphenol and Bisphenol A (BPA) are also chemical substances that are found in water, and maybe causes problem with the reproductive systems both on humans but also on different type of animals.
Toxic pollutions such as heavy metals, dissolving agents, pesticides, plant protecting agents, natural gas, soaking leaching of plastics, oil among many other substances are found in our groundwater systems.
For example the source of arsenic in India’s groundwater continues to elude scientists more than a decade after the toxin was discovered in the water supply of the Bengal delta in India. But a recent study with a Kansas State University geologist and graduate student, as well as Tulane University, has added a twist – and furthered the mystery. The environmental crisis began after large traces of the element were detected in the groundwater in the Bengal Basin – an area inhabited by more than 60 million residents. This has caused a water shortage, illness and death in the region, leaving residents unable to even use the water for ordinary tasks like washing dishes or ablution. Arsenic pollution causes skin lesions, respiratory failure and cancer when present in high concentrations in drinking water.
There are today a lot of regions in our world that experiances of polluted ground water, such as pesticides, poisins, arsenic, heavy metals from mining activities etc etc. Also the ground water is more and more infected of bacteria (Coliforma bacteria) due the poor toilette and sanitation systems is sippering down to the ground water or to the wells that are located often nearby the toilettes.
In USA and on the Florida Panhandle along the Gulf of Mexico, Pensacola is Florida's westernmost major city. Analysts say it has the worst water quality in the country. Of the 101 chemicals tested for over five years, 45 were discovered. Of them, 21 were discovered in unhealthy amounts. The worst of these were radium-228 and -228, trichloroethylene, tetrachloroethylene, alpha particles, benzine and lead. Pensacola's water was also found to contain cyanide and chloroform. The combination of these chemicals makes Pensacola's water supply America's most unhealthy.
I have also a solution to clean polluted water using distillation methods with solar heat energy. A distillation process will remove almost any impurities from water – heavy metals, poisons, bacteria, viruses and all solids. The idea is to use solar heat energy for this process. Poisoned and contaminated water would be bundled up and delivered to a public authority for further toxic treatment.
